Indore, July 2026: The School of Commerce at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Indore welcomed its newest batch of BBA and B.Com students with an inaugural induction program, marking the beginning of their undergraduate journey. Aimed at helping students transition confidently into university life, the program introduced them to the institution’s academic culture, values, and diverse opportunities for learning and development. The induction witnessed the participation of over 240 incoming students and about 330 parents, reflecting the University’s emphasis on engaging families as partners in students’ educational journeys.
The program commenced with the inauguration ceremony, invocation, and the traditional lighting of the lamp. Welcoming the students and their parents, Dr. Rajeev Srivastava, Associate Dean, School of Commerce, introduced them to the School’s vision, culture, and academics, encouraging students to make the most of the learning opportunities available inside and outside the classroom.
Delivering the inaugural address on the theme “Beyond Marks: Skills that Open Doors,” Mr. Shyam Zambre, Head – Talent Development and Capability Building, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. said, “Academic performance is important, but employability is built through continuous learning, practical skills, adaptability, and the right attitude. The professionals who remain relevant are those who never stop learning and are prepared to solve real-world problems. The years you spend at university are an opportunity to invest in capabilities that will stay with you throughout your career.”
The program also featured a leadership session by CA Naveen Khandelwal, President, Indore Management Association, who, through relatable examples from popular cinema, urged students to cultivate values such as humility, accountability, mindfulness, and integrity.
Students were also introduced to the School’s faculty and staff, and familiarized with the Student Book of Resources, academic regulations, and the code of conduct, helping them understand the campus expectations from day one.
Dr. Rajeev Srivastava, in his welcome address, said: “The School of Commerce is committed to creating an environment where academic excellence goes hand in hand with experiential learning, industry engagement, and personal growth. We encourage our students to explore opportunities, remain curious, and make the most of every experience that contributes to their development as future professionals and responsible citizens.”
Dr. Anshuman Jaswal, Director, NMIMS Indore, welcomed the students by saying: “Beginning university is an exciting milestone for students and their families.
