A moment of elation for the shining stars of SVKM’s NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME) – Tuhina Banerjee, Sakshi Butala and Abhishek Gupte – for securing first place at the ‘Accenture Innovation Challenge 2021 (AIC 2021)’. All three students are enrolled in the 6-year B Tech Integrated Program at MPSTME and represent their school as ‘Team Spiders’.
AIC 2021 is a 4-month long hackathon with multiple elimination rounds and a Grand Finale held on 11 November 2021. ‘Team Spiders’ developed a Social Media Monitoring System called ‘<itspossible>’ using technologies like Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Web Scraping, etc. to continuously and automatically monitor inappropriate content on WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter without any human intervention to reduce malpractices and avoid incidents. Before the final rounds, experts from Accenture also gave them valuable inputs in the prototype and the presentation.
The jury members for the grand finale included the leadership of various leading firms and organizations like Fastrack, Satyabhama Institute of Science and Accenture. Team Spiders presented their idea and prototype before the jury and were announced as the ‘Winners – Innovate for Society’ and bagged prizes worth ₹75,000.
By participating in this hackathon, Team Spiders got a chance to interact with industry leaders, giving them a chance to prove themselves, aim big and build big with confidence allowing them to develop real-world skills such as critical thinking, presentation, and networking.
